The general scope of the work includes the renovation of a former Alabama Power Company building of approximately 3,400 square feet. The purpose of the renovation is for the relocation of the Brewton Utility Department. (All applicants must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975.) General Contractor Bidders interested in submitting a proposal must first notify the Architect via email of their interest. Upon such notification, the Architect will issue the pre-qualification criteria to the interested Bidder so that it can be promptly completed and returned. After review of the pre-qualification criteria, written notification will be sent all interested Bidders regarding their acceptance or rejection for pre-qualification. Bonds: A certified check or bid bond payable to the City of Brewton in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000.00, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and Statutory Labor and Material Payment Bonds will be required at the signing of the Contract. Bids: Bids must be submitted on proposal forms or copies thereof furnished by the Architect. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days. The Owner reserves the right to reject bids if such action is determined to be in the best interest of the Owner. The Owner reserves the right to revoke the pre-qualification of any bidder in accordance with Section 39-2-4, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended in 1997 (by Act 97-225). Sales Tax: This project is exempt from Sales Tax. Contractor's bids are not to include Sales Tax on materials. Contractors are required to quantify the sales tax in a separate line item on the bid form.
