The Schiller & 84th Sanitary Sewer Rehab project presents an opportunity for the City to upgrade and relocate pipes into the public right-of-way. While only a few sections have identified deficiencies, the sewer pipes should be considered for replacement because of complicated logistics and avoidance of additional construction in the future. Both trenchless and open cut construction methods are recommended. The project will rehabilitate and replace existing sewer pipes in the Schiller & 84th neighborhood. The primary objectives are to eliminate backups caused by tree root clogs in the sewer mainline and to improve access to the structures used for maintenance. Construction may take place in multiple phases due to the scope of the project. Phase 1: Trenchless CIP work Phase 2: Trench work with installing sewer gravity mains within the right-of-way The project is included in the city's 2024-2025 Capital Improvement Plan. As of August 19, 2025, this project has been divided into two phases. A general contractor has not yet been selected.
