Renovation of a municipal facility in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Upgrade to the existing MacAskill room (approx. 130m2) in the basement of the Sydney Government of Canada Building as follows: install an operable wall to provide the option to separate the room into two smaller rooms (operable wall to have maximum STC level feasible), provide acoustical separation so that the rooms can operate independently without noise interference from the other side when divided, review and confirm structural support for operable wall is adequate, existing lighting to be zoned so that lighting can be controlled separately when room is sub-divided (applies to both non-dimmable 2x4 lighting and dimmable track lights), additional outlets and data jacks to be added as feasible, add electrical outlet at front of room for future wall-mounted TV installation (location of current projector screen), base building HVAC to be modified as required to allow space to be sub-divided, and upgrade two existing AC units in room to heat pumps TIMELINE: A Request for Quotation (RFQ) from engineering services was issued by BGIS in late 2020 however, no contracts were awarded. Coverage of this report is discontinued at this time.
