In general, the Project consists of Work at two elementary schools. EAST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REMODEL 1103 1ST ST W WEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADDITION 1301 1ST ST W INDEPENDENCE, IOWA 50644 East Elementary School remodeling consists of remodeling of existing entry and office spaces. Work includes, but is not limited to demolition, metal stud and gypsum board walls, incidental masonry cutting and patching, aluminum storefront, wood doors, hollow metal frames, replacement of AC panel ceilings, new toilet rooms, new lighting and revised HVAC. West Elementary School addition and remodel consists of 7000 SF addition of slab on grade, masonry cavity wall, bar joists, metal deck and EPDM roof system; metal stud and gypsum board walls, new toilet rooms, aluminum storefront, wood and fiberglass doors. Demolition of existing metal building and interior renovation areas required. New spaces consist of classrooms and toilet rooms. New Work in remodel spaces include concrete floor removal, new metal stair, metal stud and gypsum board walls, masonry walls, wood doors, hollow metal frames, replacement of AC panel ceilings, new lighting, plumbing fixtures and revised HVAC systems. Civil work consists of building demolition, excavation and restoration at addition and construction of new driveway. Lump-sum Bids will be received on a SINGLE PRIME CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE ENTIRE WORK including mechanical and electrical work. BID SECURITY in the amount of five percent of the maximum amount of the Bid must accompany each Bid as described in the Instructions to Bidders in the Project Manual. The Owner reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all Bids. No Bid may be withdrawn until 60 days after the time stated for receipt of Bids
