Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Shawnee, Kansas. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

This is a new project that is included in the Street Improvement Program (SIP). This segment of Goddard is a flat, narrow ditch section street lacking sidewalk, street lighting, and proper drainage facilities. The improvements involve complete removal and replacement of the existing street to include grading, widening, curb, sidewalk/ADA ramps, storm drainage facilities, pavement markings, and LED streetlight luminaires. Goddard does not qualify for CDBG or CARS funding, so all funding will be provided through the SIP program. On November 22, 2021, final plans were presented to Shawnee City Council for approval and staff was authorized to advertise the project for bid. An engineer has been selected. Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2022 and be completed in September 2022.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. For RFP Engineering - Goddard Street Reconstruction Consultants will be notified via eBuilder as soon as the proposals have been reviewed and the selection process is complete. The Contract shall be awarded by the Governing Body of the Owner at the sole and complete discretion of such Governing Body. Engineering Consulting Firms must have an office within the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and be familiar with the City of Shawnee. The City of Shawnee reserves the right to reject any or all of the proposal submittals and to waive informalities or irregularities of the submittals. The project provides for reconstructing Goddard Street, to include removal of existing pavement, grading, new full depth asphalt, curb inlets, curb, sidewalk, ADA ramps, driveways, pavement markings, signing, and other related improvements. Engineering Consultants shall provide ALL necessary documents requested to be consider a complete submittal. Hard copies of the proposals shall be submitted to the City as indicated on the eBuilder website. An officer of the firm making such proposal shall properly execute all forms (if applicable). RFP submittals received after the time and date above specified shall not be considered. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
