Demolition, site work and addition to a library in Allen, Texas. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a library; for the demolition of a library; and for site work for a library.
As of September 2022, this was a study & has been completed. *The previous solicitation is listed below for reference. --- The City’s goal is to design and build a state-of-the-art public Library maintaining aesthetic consistency with the current exterior design while providing interior functionality, flexibility, and optimal cost of ownership. The current facility is on two levels, and the expectation is to expand on two levels within available City property while reserving some unpaved exterior space for outdoor Library programming including children’s and community events, whether or not Library-specific and possibly a small play area for children. The expanded facility should be designed and constructed to serve the learning, informational, entertainment, cultural, and social needs of the citizens of Allen through population build-out and beyond. Accomplishing this requires adequate seating for individuals and collaborative groups; meeting space for large and small events; suitable space for space to display wall-mounted displays; and flexible program space for virtual and/or in-person participation of children, teens, and adults to accommodate story times, craft programs, and discussions of literature, history, culture, and popular interests. In addition to the expanded Library, some services will eventually be provided from the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center projected to open in Spring 2023 on Exchange Parkway south of Ridgeview Drive. The range and level of these services have yet to be determined but will likely include self-service options for Library patrons, including hold pickups, book returns, and e-book access. This is not part of this project, but something the successful consultant should be aware of.
