Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Sioux City, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The project is located on South Saint Aubin Street from Davis Avenue to Orleans Avenue and on Orleans Avenue from Morningside Avenue to South Patterson Street and includes an asphalt overlay and construction of sidewalk ramps. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier's check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract. The deposit will be returned to depositor if the construction documents are returned in good condition within fourteen (14) days from date of award. This Project has an early start date of May 3, 2021 and a late start date of May 31, 2021. The work on this project shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and be fully complete within 28 working days. The contractor shall be charged disincentives at the rate of One Thousand dollars ($1,000) per day with no maximum for each day the Project is not opened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic beyond 28 working days. The contractor shall receive payment of One Thousand dollars ($1,000) per day for each day upon completion of the Project before the 28- working day limit up to a maximum incentive payment of $10,000. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, readvertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City.
