The City of Kannapolis invites your firm to submit a Statement of Qualifications to provide engineering services for the design and construction administration of the rehabilitation of an existing 4MG concrete drinking water storage tank, and the installation of a trihalomethane removal system. The City of Kannapolis owns and operates a 15 MGD water plant. This water plant has two clearwell structures for onsite drinking water storage for a possible total capacity of 7MG. The structure needing rehabilitation contains two holding tanks, at approximately 2MG each, with an internal dividing wall in between. The consultant will provide the City of Kannapolis with engineering services for the following items listed below: Design a method for removing the old roofing materials. Provide necessary drawings, method, and specifications, for the installation of new roofing installation. Provide necessary drawings, method, and specifications, for the installation of handrailing around the outside of the #1 and #2 clearwell structure. Provide necessary drawings for and method of the installation of a PAX Trihalomethane removal system to be installed in the #2 clearwell structure. Provide necessary drawings for and method of the installation of level transducers and displays for each, #1 and #2, clearwell to be installed. Provide necessary drawings and method of integration of PAX system and level transducers into the existing water treatment plant SCADA system. Prepare final drawings and specifications indicating the scope, extent, and character of the work to be performed and furnished by the contractors. Specifications will be prepared in general conformance with the 17 Division format of the Construction Specification Institute Provide technical criteria, written descriptions and design data for the City's use in filing applications for permits from or approvals of governmental authorities having jurisdiction to review or approve the final design of the project and assist the City in consultations with appropriate authorities. The City will be responsible for all required permit fees. Advise the City of any adjustments to the total project costs presented in the Water System Capital Improvements Plan. Prepare and furnish bidding documents for review and approval by the City, its legal counsel and other advisors as appropriate. Review the drawings and specifications with the City. Provide two 24" x 36" paper copy plan sets and 1 digital copy for the City's use and the appropriate number of copies for regulatory review agencies. Coordinate the efforts of other consultants (primarily structural and electrical if not provided by selected firm) that may be required for the completion of the design. The City would be responsible for contracting directly with any other consultants utilized on the project. Could require consultant be responsible for sub-consultant - more cost but perhaps more efficiency. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
