The work to be done under this Contract consists of the complete renovation and interior alteration of the existing Cresskill Public Library, including furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the project in accordance with the plans and specifications prepared by Lothrop Associates LLP and as directed by the Library. The work of this project shall be completed no later than March 20, 2024. Each Bid must be made upon the prescribed forms furnished with the Contract Documents and Specifications, must be accompanied by a Consent of Surety, and by a certified or cashiers check, drawn on a solvent bank, or Bid Bond, in the amount of ten percentof the total price bid, but not in excess of $20,000, payable unconditionally to the Owner. When submitting a Bid Bond, it shall contain Power of Attorney for full amount of Bid Bond from a surety company authorized to do business in the State of New Jersey and acceptable to the owner. The check or bond of the unsuccessful bidder(s) shall be returned pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-24a. The check or bond of the bidder to whom the contract is awarded shall be retained until a contract is executed and the required performance bond or other security is submitted. The contract, in a form approved by the Owner, must be executed within 21 days of the award of the bid. The check or bond of the successful bidder shall be forfeited if the bidder fails to enter into a contract pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-21. Said statement may also be submitted prior to the bid. Any extra work, not originally contemplated under this Contract, shall be covered by a change order. In the event that such extra work involves labor or material for which a unit price has been bid, the aforementioned unit price which has been bid, shall be used to fix payment for this extra work, and shall be the maximum payable by the Borough therefor.
