Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; and for the construction of a playground / park / athletic field.

https://www.wisconsinrapidstribune.com/story/news/2021/04/15/wisconsin-rapids-lincoln-high-school-sports-facilities-work-begin/7104917002/ WISCONSIN RAPIDS - One of the city's largest community projects in recent memory will break ground next week. Construction on a new baseball-softball sports complex at Lincoln High School, as well as renovations to the track and football field, begin Monday. The community-funded project will cost about $9.2 million, according to new estimates. While the school district is administering and acting as the fiduciary agent for the project, about 80% of the funding is coming from the Legacy Foundation of Central Wisconsin. Earlier in April, the district reviewed and approved spending $1.4 million on the project. Much of the spending, however, will be covered by fundraising and selling naming rights at the new baseball and softball facilities, Wisconsin Rapids Superintendent Craig Broeren said. The price tag on the project rose because the project now includes turf on the baseball and softball fields. The cost of the increase was mostly offset by more community donations. "It is important to note that we are very confident that what is currently reflected as the District's portion will decrease significantly (and possibly be eliminated completely) for both of these projects," Broeren wrote in an email. Broeren said, for instance, the cost of rebuilding the track was also reduced from $800,000 to $600,000 by grouping it with the quad-plex project. The district received better pricing when it bid out the project. The new fields and facilities southeast of the school on 1801 16th St. S. mean Wisconsin Rapids-area students will have access to better sports facilities while also creating opportunities for the school district to host major high school sports tournaments and other regional sports groups. "We are super excited about the project as it is sure to bring many people to our area for various events," Broeren wrote in an email. "We will not only be able to host baseball and softball tournaments, but also youth football, soccer, etc. as having the fields be turf allows for very flexible and nearly continuous use." _____________ QUESTIONS DUE DATE Friday, January 29th, 2021 - 1:00 PM ** All questions to be sent via email to lindseyb@pobinc.com QUESTIONS DUE DATE Friday, Feb 17, 2021 - 1:00 PM Please do not contact the District with questions or comments; direct all questions and comments to Lindsey Beaman, Point of Beginning Project Support, by either calling 715.347.2928 or emailing lindseyb@pobinc.com.
