The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command intends to post a requirement for Renovate MacDonough Hall, Building 21 at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The project involves extensive renovations and repairs to a 128,000 SF, six story (two full and four partial), granite and steel structure used as a gymnasium facility for training and recreational use. The facility is an historic structure listed as a contributing element of the Naval Academy, originally constructed in 1903 and last substantially renovated in 1982. The scope of work outlines extensive renovation and repairs to historic MacDonough Hall. Work will include replacement of the training pool (157,000+ gallons) including new water treatment systems; complete replacement of the HVAC system and controls; mercury impregnated floor coating removal; miscellaneous asbestos and lead-based paint abatement; electrical replacement and modifications; Fire alarm and suppression system replacement; structural modification and improvements; extensive interior architectural improvements; plumbing and drainage systems and repairs; other building systems repairs; exterior architectural and envelope repairs; preparation of temporary operations spaces in multiple other facilities; relocation and set up of equipment and supporting infrastructure for relocated operations; disassembly/removal of temporary facilities and restoration in aforementioned other facilities; storage and protection of designated items and return of same as designated, and other incidental related work. The solicitation will be issued as a Full and Open competition. Commercial procurement processes WILL NOT be utilized for this solicitation. The procurement will Prequalify Sources and use the Best Value Source Selection with Tradeoffs method to select a qualified Offeror. The solicitation is expected to be posted around 7 May 2021.
