As the bridge is relatively low to the water, it is rotated out of the water during summer, when there is high boat traffic, and back into road traffic position during winter. The mechanisms that rotate the bridge are located in an open pit underneath the bridge and are subject to flooding. This project will raise the elevation of the open mechanical pit and retrofit the mechanic. Every bid must be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check or bank cashier's check payable to the NYS Department of Transportation, in the sum of the amount shown on the proposal title page.
