Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Winchester, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
This project will replace the structurally deficient bridge at Exit 313 and add limited capacity improvements. The bridge is reaching the end of its service life and needs to be replaced. The new bridge will feature design elements that will accommodate future improvements to the Route 17/50/522 corridor and future improvements to I-81. The project is included in the County's 2026-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of Aug 4, 2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
