Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Cumberland, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

The project scope encompasses the following three (3) main components, (1) Lagoon Upgrade, (2) Biochar Media R eed Bed and (3) Wetland Augmentation: 1. The Lagoon Upgrade is the primary focus of this project. The purpose is to bring the effluent into compliance with the current Permit and enable MWR compliant use of "Moderate Exposure Potential" reclaimed water. It includes the following scope: a. De-sludging the lagoons and on-site dewatering of the sludge. Processing to Class A will be offsite composting by the Comox Valley Regional District. b. Headworks area improvements - addition of a second in channel "Muffin Monster" screening system, storage, security, instrumentation, and flow measurement. c. Upgrades to (or replacement of) the existing influent pump station at the lagoons. d. Existing lagoon upgrades - repurpose the existing system, reverse the existing flow path, convert the existing larger settling lagoon into an aerated lagoon, and convert the smaller aerated lagoon to a settling lagoon with add baffle curtains to reduce the potential for hydraulic short circuiting. e. Addition of a chemically enhanced solids separation process for removal of phosphorus, non-settling suspended solids and algae. f. Provision for the later addition of disk filtration g. Addition of chemical disinfection by peracetic acid (PAA) or performic acid (PFA) to meet discharge standards. h. A new effluent outfall to Maple Lake Creek, and a creek stream gauging station. i. Addition of a sludge dewatering system for the solids from the separation unit - passive dewatering by geotubes is contemplated, but other systems can be considered. j. Process monitoring equipment, flow measurement, addition of SCADA (and integration with the Cumberland potable water SCADA system) etc. k. Chemical storage. l. Electrical upgrades. m. Operations building - laboratory, workshop, process control (SCADA) station, operator amenities, etc. This building may or may not include chemical storage and main electrical room - modular, self-contained options for these components (and the operations building itself) should be considered in the design process. n. Site servicing (stormwater, roads etc.) and security. o. Any other items identified as being necessary for a successful project.
