As of April 27 the project was awarded to Market & Johnson Inc. for $17,699,000 & VCI Environmental Inc for $974,575. In general the work consists of renovation of the student residence South Hall to provide programmatic and infrastructure upgrades that will improve functionality, efficiency, and building code compliance.It also constructs a new accessible building entrance, expanded restrooms on each floor, and a passenger elevator. The bathrooms on each floor will be remodeled. All room finishes will be replaced or upgraded. All interior doors and door hardware will be replaced. All mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and associated controls; telecommunications; and security and life safey systems will be replaced. All exterior windows, doors, frames and door hardware will be replaced. All roofing systems will be replaced, including increasing the insulation. Exterior masonry repair, tuck-pointing, and caulking will be performed on the building envelope to restore the integrity and improve energy efficiency. Asbestos abatement will be performed as necessary. New telecommuinication rooms will be constructed.
