Renovation of an educational facility in Goochland, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 12,150-square-foot educational facility.
GCPS is seeking sealed bids from qualified Virginia Class A licensed contractors to perform roofing services at Goochland High School. GHS was built in 2001; the roof is original with minor repairs. The Phase 3 roof is presently a white EPDM roof that is approximately 12,150 square feet. substantial completion date of July 29, 2021 Notice of Intent to Award Week of March 29, 2021 All questions relating to this solicitation shall be submitted to Tandra Harris, Purchasing Officer, Goochland County Public Schools, at tharris@glnd.k12.va.us by 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Questions shall be succinct and include the submitter's name, title, company name, company address, and telephone number. Bid Bond: If the total bid price, including any add alternates and not excluding any deduct alternates, exceeds $50,000, the Bid shall be accompanied by Bid security in the amount of five (5%) percent of the Bid amount in the form of a Bid Bond from a Surety legally authorized to do business in Virginia, or a cashier's check, or certified check payable to GOOCHLAND COUNTY, VIRGINIA. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, supervision, transportation, equipment, tools and materials, and handle all permits as required to satisfactorily repair GHS Phase 3 Roof. Where a specific product is named, a product of equivalent or better quality may be substituted. See Exhibit B for an aerial view of the Phase 3 roof site. 1) Remove existing EPDM membrane and dispose of off-site. 2) Furnish and install new 1 1/2 " polyiso insulation. 3) Furnish and install .060 non-reinforced EPDM (Mansfield or comparable) by adhering to polyiso insulation with manufacturer's bonding adhesive. 4) Take membrane up and over all parapet walls. 5) Use manufacturer's 20-year details for all curbs, flashings, walls, penetrations, etc. 6) Fabricate and install new 24-gallon Kynar Coated (or equivalent) gravel stop or equivalent at perimeter of roof (owner to choose color from standard color chart). 7) Fabricate and install new 24-gallon counter flashings over all termination bar. 8) Contractor will make sure that the building stays water tight on a daily basis. (a) Contractor will open as much roof in a day that they can safely replace. 9) Contractor will issue a 20-year manufacturer's warranty and a 2-year contractor's warranty at the conclusion of job. 10) Contractor will use internal or subcontracted workforce that has been trained and certified to install selected manufacture's roofing systems. 11) Contractor will insure that all roof slopes terminate to a working drain and scuppers on the perimeter of the roof will be heightened to match existing height for emergency drainage.
