Scope of work includes installing or replacing water valves that have been identified by Water Quality in the CFPUA water system. Operable valves in the distribution system allow for portions of the system to be isolated when water main breaks or construction activities occur. Because these valves are typically located in the City of Wilmington streets or NCDOT right of ways, most valve replacement activities are scheduled to occur at night or on weekends to minimize traffic impacts. Night work also assists with minimizing the disruption to customers. Engineer's Opinion of Probable Construction Cost for Bid Price (Items 1-26) is $325,000 - $335,000 This is a single prime contract. Bid Opening: Bids must be delivered to the attention of Julia Faircloth, Procurement Manager, at 235 Government Center Drive by Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Bids must be received by Julia Faircloth, Procurement Manager, or designee at the front door. The official time will be by the clock at the front door of 235 Government Center Drive and no late bids will be accepted. The Bidders are responsible for allowing time for traffic and parking prior to delivering the bids to the attention of Julia Faircloth, Procurement Manager, at 235 Government Center Drive. It is the bidder's responsibility to ensure that the bids are received on time. Bid Bond: A deposit is required with the submission of the bid. When a deposit is required, the bidder must submit with the bid cash or a certified check, drawn on a bank or trust company authorized to do business in the State of North Carolina, payable to Cape Fear Public Utility Authority, in an amount at least equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid, as a guarantee that a contract will be entered into and that satisfactory performance and payment bonds will be executed.
