Construction of a brand new public space at Queens Quay East and Parliament Street that would significantly enhance the area's connectivity with the lake. The aim is to create destination for swimming, kayaking, boating, entertainment, and dining, attracting visitors from the neighbourhood and beyond. The East Bayfront community could soon get a brand-new public space that would significantly enhance the area's connectivity with the lake. The Parliament slip would be traversed by a new pedestrian bridge and would also include a waterfront amphitheater, a floating pier housing a restaurant, canoe/kayak launch point, water transportation hub, and a dock with concessions. At the north end of the slip along the 0Queens Quay East frontage and adjacent to the amphitheatre, a public swimming pool. TIMELINE: The architects have completed a design concept. Waterfront Toronto, in partnership with City of Toronto, PortsToronto, and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, began the work which resulted in the 2020 Marine Use Strategy update. Waterfront Toronto completed work with residents, business owner, and the Indigenous Community to implement the recommendations. No further construction resulted from this work.
