Demolition and new construction of a mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a playground / park / athletic field; for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; and service station / car wash facility.

Extensive works are required at this facility. The plant and slab are near the end of their service life and require replacement. Extensive equipment replacement is foreseen, as is the replacement of the rink slab with an integrated header system. Include appropriate and effective energy management design and provide for alarm monitoring. The existing plant building itself has serious issues. The Zamboni garage function is currently provided by a tent; a permanent vehicle garage is required. Additionally, there is an ongoing storm management and flooding issue in the equipment room, which is currently well below grade. The project includes demolition and replacement of the building entirely and creation of a new conventional construction or pre-finished / prefabricated installation, according to optimal economic effect. A new vehicle garage is required to be integrated with the south end of the plant building, and management of flooding with respect to surface sloping and storm drainage management is required. New construction shall be designed above-grade to prevent water infiltration, and to adjoin adjacent surfaces in a manner as to prevent water ponding and flooding. The development and execution of a project plan will be based on the objective determination of options and their comparative cost-benefits, and is included in the work of this assignment, as is the execution of that plan. Additionally, the facility has a number of elements and systems that are at or past their life span (including perimeter fence and (partially demountable) dasher boards, and sports lighting. Energy management and efficiency shall be included in the process of review and recommendation. TIMELINE: Design is complete. A detailed review and prioritization of facility issues is complete and has been returned to the owner. Tender for Hight Park Rink Renovation will be issued November/December, 2022. Further projects will be followed at the tender stage, tender timing is undetermined peding capital funding allocation. Coverage of this report is discontinued. *Construction budget is unreleased.
