The project includes the construction of a three mile multi-use recreation trail between the existing Easter Lake Spine Trail in Des Moines with the existing Carlisle Nature Trail in Carlisle. This project provides for design and construction of the Carlisle Trail Connection, the largest gap connecting the city of Des Moines north to south and beyond. Design, easement and property acquisition, coordination/collaboration with other agencies, permitting and construction documentation (FY21-22). Construction of the trail, its neighborhood connections and related components (FY23-24). Successful grant applications currently provide more than $1,690,914 million to supplement CIP funding, future grants applications are for an additional $400,000 of grant funding dollars for this project. As of May 31, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2022-2026 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2023.
