Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Norfolk, Virginia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 162,596-square-foot, five-story above grade educational facility; for site work for a four-acre educational facility; educational facility; and 676-space sidewalk / parking lot.

The proposed research and education building will be a cast-in-place structure with an enclosed mechanical penthouse on the roof level. The exterior includes a combination of brick, metal panels and curtain wall on the facade and membrane, green roofing and pavers on the roof levels. The interior features lab spaces, office spaces and greenhouses on the 2nd and 4th levels. Work includes classrooms, offices, research labs, teaching labs, greenhouse spaces, zoology collections, herbarium collections, a vivarium, conference spaces, and meeting rooms as well as associated site work and grounds. The scope of work also includes demolition of three existing buildings on the site, deep foundations and complete site package, consisting of earthwork, utilities, hardscapes and softscapes.
