Demolition, site work and renovation of a civil project in Shenandoah, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; for site work for a water / sewer project; and for the demolition of a water / sewer project.

As of June 19, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. The general nature of the public improvement to the existing wastewater treatment facility includes, but is not limited to, construction of a new influent sanitary sewer, influent flume structure, headworks building with screening room, office/laboratory, controls room, and blower room; a new mechanical bar screen with accessories, headworks wet wells with submersible pumps, vortex grit unit and accessories, Aeromod activated sludge treatment system, ultraviolet disinfection system, effluent outfall sewer, effluent outfall structure, various site piping for water, aeration, and sludge; a standby generator, electrical/controls upgrades, an equalization basin, and other site improvements. Demolition of the existing wastewater treatment facility, including, but not limited to, the stormwater screening structure, stormwater pumping complex, existing headworks, primary clarifier, first stage tricking filter, second stage trickling filter, final clarifier, outfall control structure, golf course irrigation pump building and various other existing equipment shall be considered as an alternate bid. Site Directions: Existing wastewater treatment facility, 1/2 mile south of 190th Street and 1/2 mile east of Highway 59. State date: 10 days after Issuance of Notice to Proceed; Substantial Completion: 540 calendar days; Final Completion: 650 calendar days. Question Deadline 05/16/2024 Bidder shall submit all questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents to Engineer in writing. Questions received less than seven days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Chapter 26, Section 26.8, and as specified by the City of Shenandoah, in the amount fixed in the Instructions to Bidders. The work shall commence on the day indicated in the Notice to Proceed and shall be substantially complete within 630 calendar days and completed and ready for final payment within 720 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. Should the Contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $1,750 per calendar day for substantial completion and $1,000 per calendar day for final completion will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract terms. The successful bidder will be required to furnish bonds in an amount equal to one-hundred percent (100 percent) of the contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment for all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of Contractor. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities and irregularities in the form of the bid, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
