Completed plans call for the construction of a 53,000-square-foot, one-story above grade laboratory facility; for site work for a laboratory facility; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

A new state of the art single story 53,000 SF forensic science laboratory (Forensic Lab) will be used to house and support examination analysis of evidence by the Forensic Science Division of the Prince George's County Police Department. This 53,000 SF facility will include labs, offices, spaces for staff training, collaboration and a wellness center. The facility will be located at 1739 Brightseat Road, Hyattsville, MD 20785. The new Forensic Lab will be housed in an existing building constructed around 1989 that was formerly a warehouse. The southern half of this building is occupied by the existing Property/Evidence Warehouse and Crime Scene Investigation Division units of the Police department. Portions of the building will remain occupied throughout the construction of the new lab. The northern half of the building will hold the new science lab. The building will have advanced investigation laboratories with a flexible and sustainable working environment for staff.
