Site work for a water / sewer project in Norwood, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The proposed work includes cleaning and cement mortar lining of approximately nineteen thousand seven hundred (19,700) linear feet of 6-inch to 14-inch cement lined ductile iron pipe installing bypass piping, valves, hydrants, fittings, and trench paving. Each bid must be accompanied by bid security in the form of certified check, cashier's check, treasurer's check or bid bond in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the value of the bid, including all alternates. Attention of bidders is called particularly to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and minimum rates to be paid under the contract as determined by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development under the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26-27H inclusive. All bidders shall make positive efforts to achieve: (1) a minority employee work force hour goal of 15.30 percent, (2) a woman employee work force hour goal of 6.90 percent, (3) a goal of 7.24 percent participation of Minority-Owned Business Enterprise(s) (MBE), and (4) a goal of 3.60 percent participation of Woman-Owned Business Enterprise(s) (WBE). The contractor shall take all affirmative steps necessary to achieve these goals. The bidder shall submit completed MBE and WBE forms with the bid. No bid may be withdrawn within thirty (30) days (Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays excluded) after the date of opening thereof. A Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, each in an amount equal to 100 percent of the contract price, will be required for the faithful performance of the Contract and provided within ten (10) calendar days of the award letter. The right is reserved to waive any informalities in or to reject any or all bids received, and to award the contract to any of the Contractors bidding on the work if, in the Town's opinion, the best interests of the Town thereby will be promoted.
