The contracted work to be done under these specifications consists of furnishing all the required labor, materials, equipment, parts and supplies necessary for the repair and refurbishment of the running track surface. The work hereunder shall be done and conform to the following: 1. American Sports Builders Association Track Construction Manual and Track Construction Guidelines 2. As prescribed or approved by NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) and NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) A. The existing surface shall be inspected by the contractor for any conditions detrimental to successful installation. Any deficiencies shall be reported to the owner's representative prior to the installation of the new surface. Track shall be primed with polyurethane primer to assure proper adhesion of structural spray to the existing surface. B. The entire surface shall be swept, power blown, or high pressure washed to remove all dirt, oil, grease, or any other foreign matter. The surface shall be free from any loose material. C. Contractor should fill any cracks as necessary. D. Red structural spray (a polyurethane structural spray coating applied as a single component, MDI based binder mixed with polyurethane based colored paste) shall be applied. Binder is to be 100% solids and compatible with SBR & EPDM rubber granules. Structural spray shall be of adequate viscosity to partially drain into base mat. E. Base mat sell receive two structural spray layers consisting of 60% red pigmented polyurethane structural spray binder and 40% EPDM red colored rubber granulate graded to .5 to 1.5 mm in size. F. Each spray layer shall be applied uniformly at a rate of not las than 1.8 lbs per square yard for total spray coverage of not less than 3.6 lbs per square yard. The two layers shall be sprayed in opposite directions in order to achieve a uniform application.
