A firm timeline for final design and construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The University of Virginia (University or UVA) invites highly qualified engineering consulting firms to submit a letter of interest and associated supporting materials for consideration in the selection of a consultant team to provide engineering services to perform a plant expansion and optimization study for the Massie Road Central Utility Plant (CUP) in accordance with the provisions of the University of Virginia Higher Education Capital Outlay Manual (HECOM). This study will examine existing plant capacity and develop a plan, project scope, schedule, and budget estimate for expanding capacity to meet increased heating and chilled water demand associated with forecasted growth within the areas currently and potentially served by the Massie Road Plant. It is anticipated that once complete, this CUP study will provide the following deliverables: 1. A report showing optimization of the existing heating/ cooling infrastructure and any new infrastructure with the existing and new load profiles. This should include an examination of modifications to the existing building heating/ cooling systems that would allow overall plant/ system efficiency. The existing buildings include John Paul Jones Arena and the McCue Center. 2. A precinct plan including an evaluation of the impact and potential benefits/ risks of connecting the Massie Road Plant to the adjacent loops (the North Grounds loop and the Central Grounds loop).
