Saving Project...

Site work for a civil project in Denver, Colorado. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Griswold Water Purification Facility (WPF) Surge Tank Improvements Griswold WPF Surge Tank Improvements: the existing zone 4 pump station surge tanks were installed in 1972 and 1976 and have reached the end of their useful life. The initial modeling evaluation showed that the purpose and need of these zone 4 surge tanks continues, as they provide vacuum relief during surge events on the zone 4 pipeline. The replacement surge tanks will not fit in the existing location. This project will demolish the old surge tanks and construct the new surge tanks in a building located west of the zone 4 pump station. Because the surge tanks are being removed, the zone 4 piping in the room must also be modified. The zone 4 pipe will be reworked to create a "cold start" line that connects the zone 4 line to the filter backwash supply line. This modification would allow operations to backwash a filter off of the distribution system during a facility startup, improving efficiency and reducing the time it takes to bring the plant back into service. Additionally, the improved cold-start line provides a means to fill the clearwell below the filters with potable water from the zone 4 distribution system. The water in the clearwell can also be used to backwash filters during a plant startup. The removal of the tanks and modification of the cold-start piping also makes room for the new backwash pumps that will be reworked in this space in a future project.
