The proposed Fire Station 20 will be located south of the future Loop 88, between Avenue P and Indiana Avenue. The $9 million will fund about 35 sections of unpaved streets across the city. Griffith says these streets are long overdue. Broken down by district, about two miles are in District 2, one mile each is in Districts 1 and 5, and Districts 4 and 6 will feature about 1/2 mile of pavement on currently unpaved roads. These bonds together, the $27.9 million non-voter approved bond and the $174.5 million bond if voters approve it, would increase the city's tax rate at its peak by 3.31 cents, according to information presented to the city council.
