Renovation of an educational facility in Delavan, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 994-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.

This project is being let using a new single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders. In general, the work consists of constructing a new (3) stop elevator addition adjacent to the existing stairway area of Pie Hall on the School for the Deaf campus. The new elevator will provide an internal accessible path for wheelchairs between the primary school and other campus buildings. Currently, wheelchair students must traverse an outdoor sidewalk to access campus buildings including food services and the health center. A new stairway addition, adjacent to the new elevator shaft and meeting current building code guidelines, will be constructed to connect the upper and lower levels of Pie Hall with the intermediate ground level. Site, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing are also part of the project scope. Base Bids will be received as a single lump sum bid for: 3) Plumbing; 4) Mechanical (Heating, 11 Ventilating, Air Conditioning); and 5) Electrical. Bid Guarantee in the amount of 10% of the Bid must accompany each bid submitted. Failure to visit the site or failure to examine any and all Contract Documents will in no way relieve the successful contractor from necessity of furnishing any materials or equipment, or performing any work, that may be required to complete the work in accordance with the Contract Documents.
