General Requirements - Insurance Required - Bidder Prequalification/Preregistration Required - Contractors License Required - Installation Required This work shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, loading, haul, and disposal for STRUCTURE BACKFILL (COMPLETE IN PLACE) to remove unsuitable backfill material. Upon direction of the Engineer, the Contractor shall remove and dispose of existing unsuitable backfill material. The provisions of STRUCTURE BACKFILL (COMPLETE IN PLACE) will only be implemented in areas designated by the Engineer where existing backfill material is determined unsuitable. All material removed shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be properly disposed of outside the limits of the project at no additional cost. This work shall also include furnishing all labor, material, equipment, loading, haul, placing and compaction of STRUCTURE BACKFILL(COMPLETE IN PLACE). Structure backfill shall have a liquid limit not exceeding 35 and a plasticity index of not over 6 when determined in conformity with AASHTO T89 and T90 respectively. Structure Backfill shall be a combination of one part CLASS 6 Recycled Concrete Recycled Base Course and two part Class 4 recycled concrete base course Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2011 Edition, Classification for Aggregate Base Course Section 703. Samples and test data on material to be used shall be submitted to the Engineer stating the structure backfill meets these requirements.
