Site work for a civil project in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.

The City of Ames Public Works Department is the only authorized source of bidding documents andproposal forms. Bidding documents and proposal forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete setof documents. Bidders using bidding documents and/or proposal forms not obtained from the City of Ames PublicWorks Department are advised to contact the City of Ames Public Works Department to provide a contact name,mailing address, and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is:Base Bid Work (EDA funded) - includes 5,946 LF of gravity sewer, ranging from 12" to 18", to be installed bytrenching; 138 LF of 18" gravity sewer to be installed by trenchless method; 11,732 LF of 12" force main to beinstalled by trenching; 2,923 LF of 12" force main to be installed by trenchless method; 520 LF of 12" forcemain to be installed in jack and bore casing; 5,245 LF of 16" water main to be installed by trenching; 153 LF of12" water main to be installed by trenchless method; duplex pump station; miscellaneous related work andappurtenances in accordance with the contract documents. Add Alternate No. 1 (non-federally funded) - Gravity Sewer from east of MH 4 to MH 24 shown on Drawings CG18-CG22; and water main from west of Teller Ave to Potter Ave shown on Drawings CG57-CG63: Work includes all time, materials and labor to extend 3,953 LF of gravity sewer, ranging from 8" to 12", to be installed by trenching; 110 LF of 12" gravity sewer to be installed by trenchless method; and associated manholes; 5,082 LF of 16" water main to be installed by trenching; 115 LF of 16" and 57 LF of 12" water main to be installed by trenchless method; one 38 LF pipe culvert and associated apron, footings and guard. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days afterreceipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award, and approval of contract and performance bond. All water main, gravity sewer main, and force sewer main installation shall be completed no later than May 13, 2022 and the entire project shall be completed no later than June 30, 2022. Should the contractor fail to complete the work as specified by these designated contract completion dates, liquidated damages of $2,000.00 per calendar day will be assessed. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. The City of Ames, Iowa, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000d 4 issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in consideration for an award. This project will be partially funded with Federal funds from the United States Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration and therefore is subject to the Federal laws and regulations associated with that program.
