Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Watkins Glen, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.
The project includes removing and replacing the existing bridge carrying CR 6 over Vanloon Creek. The new structure will consist of a three-sided precast concrete superstructure with an asphalt wearing surface. The substructure will consist of cast-in-place concrete footings and wingwalls, supported on driven steel H-piles. The new structure will be constructed behind the existing abutments, the entire existing substructures will be removed to allow for creation of a natural streambed. The project includes approximately 400 linear feet of full depth approach roadway reconstruction to tie the new bridge into the existing roadway profile. New bridge and approach guide railing will be installed within the project limits. A grade control structure will be installed downstream of the new bridge. Traffic will be maintained using an off-site detour during construction.
