The owner has determined a prequalified list of design build companies The State University Construction Fund is seeking Statements of Qualifications from consultants to provide design and construction services. Due to the prevalence of specialized spaces and their interrelationship with the building systems and the overall building function, it is desired that an Architectural Consultant lead and coordinate the design for this project. The main scope of this project is for the full replacement of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems at the Staller Center for the Arts. This building was constructed in 1975 and includes two interconnected buildings for the Arts and Music programs totaling 247,679 gross square feet. Both portions of the building have 4 stories above grade and a basement. There have not been any major upgrades to these systems in the building's history. A study conducted in 2015 found the equipment, distribution, and controls to be in fair/poor condition. The building requires mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that are modern, energy efficient, code compliant, and with appropriate consideration to the spaces in which they serve. Services of a theater sub-consultant is also requested. Services will initially proceed through Schematic Phase. Subsequent design and construction services will be authorized by the Fund contingent upon funding availability. Consultants should emphasize their knowledge and experience in coordination and managing design projects for MEP/FP systems in buildings utilized for the performing arts, art galleries, and music.
