Renovation of a fire / police facility in Edson, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
Edson Detachment is approximately 25 years old, and still has many original components. The plan is to bring the building up to current code, which would include adding a new fire suppression system throughout the building. We plan to replace the HVAC and boiler systems, and add new as required. There are also electrical upgrades included in the scope. A general refresh for finishes and materials is also planned. The Type B occupancy area will see a significant upgrade to bring the space up to current standards. This includes the addition of angled walls, and all new finishes and fixtures in this area. The building restrooms will be reconfigured to allow for barrier-free access where possible. Work is to be phased to maintain operations in an occupied building. TIMELINE: A Request for Qualifications from general contractors was issued in 2021 and subsequently cancelled by the owner. Project may be republished in the future if/when it's been approved to proceed. Coverage of this report is discontinued.
