Construction of a new hospital in Durham Region. TIMELINE: Project is conceptual. Optimus SBR provided Fairness Advisory Services for site selection. Lakeridge Health announced January 6, 2022, that an Expert Panel recommended a site in Whitby be protected for a proposed future hospital in Durham Region. The site covers 50 acres of land south of Hwy. 407, west of Hwy. 412, east of Lake Ridge Road and north of Hwy. 7/Winchester Road. The Town has waiting for the Province to approve a $3 million capital planning grant for Lakeridge Health to complete the land disposition process for the hospital site. Funding grants are required to move forward in the planning & design for the hospital. Updates may be available late 2024.
