The work of the project includes, but is not limited to, interior and exterior renovations of existing ema building including: selective demolition, masonry walls, doors, storefront, hardware, drywall partitions, painting, other interior finishes, and mechanical and electrical; coordination and supervision of the entire project, and all related work, as indicated in the bid and contract documents. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to butler county commission in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and statutory labor and material payment bonds, and insurance in compliance with requirements, will be required at the signing of the contract. Workmen's compensation, extended fire and tornado insurance, public liability and property damage insurance and builders risk insurance will be required. Insurance in compliance with requirements will be required at the signing of the contract. The successful bidder will be required to submit 100% performance and payment bonds or an irrevocable "Letter of credit" which is acceptable to the owner. All bonds and letters of credit shall be for 100% of the contract price. Attention of bidders is called to the license required by title 34, chapter 8, of the code of alabama, 1975, and amendments thereto, relating to the licensing of general contractors. No bid will be accepted from anyone, except a qualified contractor, licensed by the state licensing board for general contractors, unless otherwise required by the state licensing board. The attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and minimum wage rates to be paid under the contract, section 3, segregated facilities, section 109 and e.O. 11246 This project is being bid including taxes, and requires the contractor to enter into an agreement with the owner, wherein the contractor will be authorized to make materials purchases with purchase orders issued or authorized by the owner, provide tabulated invoices to the owner for owner's payment at least once monthly, so as to take advantage of the owner's tax exempt status, and otherwise to administer the sales and use tax savings portion of the project for the owner, as a part of their bid. Taxes will then be deducted from the contract amount either from payments issued to the contractor or by change order at the end of the project, as elected by the owner.
