Site work, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Columbia, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the addition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The scope of work includes site improvements, auditorium and cafeteria additions, interior renovations, and mechanical and electrical upgrades. Construction of the additions/renovations will be phased and bidders are asked to look at the schedule and phasing plan included in the bid documents for further details regarding normal work hours and which scopes of work are required to be done after hours. Minority businesses to are encouraged to submit proposals for this construction project. M.B. Kahn and the Owner shall award contracts to businesses who hire without regard to race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or handicapping condition. Concurrent Work: Owner may elect to award separate contract(s) for other construction operations at Project site. Those operations may be conducted simultaneously with work under this Contract. The Contractor shall coordinate work with the Construction Manager and shall follow phasing instructions per the Construction Manager. B. The intent of the Work of this Section is to provide for the orderly installation of preventative measures to control the migration of sediments and the damage caused by erosion from stormwater events. The Contractor shall be cognizant of the goals to be achieved and shall organize his work to effectively accomplish the goals. Whenever specified measures, properly constructed and maintained, are not providing the degree of control of sediments and erosion that is deemed satisfactory, the Contractor shall notify the Architect/Engineer and shall propose any additional measures which may be justified. C. Inspect all sediment and erosion control devices at least weekly and after each rain event. Repair any damaged portions immediately and remove any new sediment that has entered said device or collection basin. Regrade/regrass any 'washed out' areas. All inspections shall be recorded in the Stormwater Pollution Prevention binder and kept on-site. The scope of work will include but is not limited to Interior and Exterior Renovation. The Renovations and Addition will consist of approximately 46,800 square feet in Level 1 renovations, approximately 3,500 square feet in additions and VAV replacement throughout the school. With the additions and renovations, there will be upgrades to the existing amphitheater and existing courtyard. There will also be additions to the cafeteria, auditorium, ADA upgrades, enclosing existing open egress stairs, and connecting existing buildings with enclosed corridors. Work includes, but is not limited to, brick and concrete block masonry, storefront window, sheetrock, framing, metal panels, wood and metal doors, HM frames, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, exterior improvements, and all other elements necessary to complete the construction of the buildings and associated grounds.
