Site work and paving for a civil project in Thorold, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.
This project includes the replacement of approximately 280 m of Cast Iron watermain with 150 mm PVC watermain, in the same location, and full reconstruction of Chapel St S. from Portland Street to Clairmont Street, in Thorold. The project also includes intersection improvements at Chapel St S and Portland Street and addition of sidewalk on the east side of Chapel St S. between Welland Canals Pkwy and Portland Street. The construction process will require a temporary continuous water supply system installation with a backflow preventer, to maintain continuous water supply to the affected area. The Watermain construction needs to be staged in such a way that there is only a few hours of the service interruption, required for the connection process, while connecting the 150 mm branch to the east, between Portland Street and Welland Canals Pkwy, which continues under the Canal and supplies water to an industrial area. Road reconstruction will include full depth reconstruction as indicated on the contract drawings, along with replacement of sidewalk on both sides of the road. As indicated in the attached Geotechnical report (Appendix A) the existing road base is concrete and will require removal and be replaced with 400 mm of Granular A.
