Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Montreal, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a municipal facility; for site work for a municipal facility; 6,000-unit multi-residential development; multi-residential development; and playground / park / athletic field.

The project to transform a part of the immense former Blue Bonnets racetrack site and its surroundings into an ecological district that will welcome thousands of residents traveling mainly by public transit or active transportation. The City has opted for the construction of residential development with half the 20,000 units planned for the site in and around the old Hippodrome reserved for affordable housing. The project will include public use facilities for different activities, community and recreation buildings and installations, green zones and parks. The value of the project is not determined and may be as high as $1.4 billion. TIMELINE: The project is in a preliminary stage and is under study. The City has created a GALOPH working group - Groupe for Acceleration and Optimization of the Hippodrome project - created for the project development and including representatives of Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Claridge development company has proceeded to a second stage of studies for development of the first construction program phase Site Namur-Hippodrome Redevelopment aiming to establish detailed planning for the development project. Seized with a national housing crisis, the federal government has joined the project. Ottawa, Quebec and the City of Montreal are together spending $6 million for technical studies on the 95 hectares of land. The group GALOPH is preparing next project development steps that will include, among other things, planning for the deployment of infrastructures and the development of a sustainable, viable and innovative development concept that will incorporate public transit. According to preliminary scheduling consultations are planned for later this year and shovels could be in the ground sometime in 2025. Note.
