The Town of Bay Harbor Islands is seeking a qualified contractor to provide services to remove the existing conduit, bracketing and medium-voltage (7.2kv) three-phase power cables and replace with approximately 1,000 feet of new conduit, bracketing and cables to supply electrical service to the Bascule bridge and the Chevron fuel station, just west of the Bridge. d. The nature and scope of this contract are as follows: The proposed repair would install a brand-new conduit made of PVC Schedule 80, with a 3.5" trade-size. The new conduit would be supported by stainless steel brackets, installed at the bottom flange of the metal I-Girder. The spacing of the support brackets would be 5 Ft. FPL has been contacted about this situation and are waiting for the bridge owner/operator to install the new conduit and new 3-phase MV 7.2kv # 1/0 AWG cables. The existing cables have been stressed under the load of their own weight and therefore, calls for the entire 1,000 Ft run of cable to be replaced. Once accomplished, FPL will proceed with the re-splicing of the new cables into their system, at the Island's FPL MV pull box. The proposed conduit system mounts on the metal I-Girder of the bridge, hence it does not require any drilling into the bridge's concrete, which, built in 1950, may contain asbestos. The Town reserves the right to cancel this solicitation, reject any or all submissions, with or without cause, to waive technical errors and informalities, and to accept any bid from a bidder who is qualified and best serves the interests of or represents the best value to the Town. This contract has been awarded to A. West Enterprise, LLC in the amount of $172,808.08.
