Renovation and addition to a medical facility in Longbow Lake, Ontario. Completed plans call for the addition of a 8,872-square-foot medical facility; and for the renovation of a 5,022-square-foot medical facility.
Grassy Narrows First Nation (GNFN) is working with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) to renovate and expand their existing Health Centre under a Design-Build approach. GNFN is a year-round road accessible community on Highway 671 NE of Kenora. The scope entails renovation of the existing 465 sq m health facility plus a new 845 sq m addition. The health centre programming will be revised to include a Nursing component, First Nation Health component and two attached nurses' apartments. The site includes a helipad which needs to be maintained. The Health Centre must stay in operation through all stages of the renovation and addition, so proper construction phasing will be critical.
