The Town of Winchendon, Massachusetts, acting through its Town Manager's office, will accept sealed bids from qualified contractors for the replacement of bridge on Robbins Road in the Town of Winchendon, Massachusetts. The Contractor is required to completely fill out the bid package and submit their formsat the Town Manager's Office, 4th Floor, 109 Front Street, Dept. 1, Winchendon, Massachusetts. Bidders must be pre-qualified by MassDOT in the BRIDGE-CONSTRUCTION category to bid on the above project. An award will not be made to a Contractor who is not pre-qualified by MassDOT prior to the opening of Proposals. All work shall be in conformance with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation specifications. The proposal must be filled out and signed as directed therein. The sealed bids, clearly marked "Robbins Road Bridge Replacement Bid", will be accepted at the Winchendon Town Hall, in the Town Manager's Office, 4th Floor, 109 Front Street, Dept. 1, Winchendon, MA 01475. The bid guarantee shall be in the form of a cash bond, certified check or cashier's check made payable to the Town of Winchendon. The bid guarantee shall be equal to 5% of the bid amount. A 50% payment bond will be required of the successful bidder within (10) days following the notice of award. This check to be the property of said Town if the Bidder fails to execute the contract and satisfactory bond within ten (10) days after the contract may have been awarded to him. Scope Of Work- The scope of work for the bridge replacement includes the installation of erosion and sediment control, temporary traffic controls, demolition of bridge, installation substructure and superstructure, placement of scour protective including riprap in the stream channel covered with six inches of natural streambed material, construction of moment slab, construction of wingwalls, bridge rail, full depth reconstruction within the limits of work, installation of guardrail and other incidental work. The Bidder hereby agrees to commence work under this contract on or before a date to be fixed in the written "Notice to Proceed" given by the TOWN to the Contractor and to substantially complete the project by August 31, 2022. The Bidder further agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $1000 for each consecutive calendar day thereafter during which the work has not been substantially completed. The final completion date for this project shall be 45 days after Bidder's receipt of the Town's 'punch list" of incomplete and unsatisfactory items of work, except for any items of work specified in a separate writing by the Town as needing to be completed when weather permits (e.g., seeding or final paving), which items, if any, shall be completed by October 15, 2022.
