Renovation of a laboratory facility in Richland, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
Battelle Memorial Institute, Pacific Northwest Division (Battelle) operates and manages the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for the United States Department of Energy (DOE). PNNL performs research and development activities within various facilities including the 325 Radiochemical Processing Laboratory (325RPL Building). The 325RPL Building is a Hazard Category II non-reactor nuclear facility located in the Hanford Site 300 area. The 325RPL Building is equipped with a criticality alarm system (CAS) that will detect a criticality accident and initiate immediate evacuation of people in and around the facility. Battelle is implementing a strategy to replicate the existing CAS Comparator Panel, (a major component within the system) to the best extent possible to address mission needs. The CAS includes nine neutron-sensitive radiation detectors, the comparator panel, signal generators (i.e., howlers), visual alarms, a howler control circuit, local alarm and remote criticality trouble and power failure annunciator, a remote reset relay, and associated wiring and controls. This solicitation is for the design, fabrication, inspection, maintenance, testing and delivery of a replicated CAS comparator panel.
