Location: Westborough Project Type: Bridge - Construction Federal Aid No.: STP(BR-OFF)-0033(020)X MASSDOT - Pedestrian Bridge Superstructure Replacement Bridge Number W-24-010 (Steel) Fisher Street Over the CSX/MBTA Railroad Labor participation goals for this Project shall be 15.3% for minorities and 6.9% for women for each job category The work under this contract consists of replacing the superstructure of the existing Fisher Street Bridge (MassDOT Bridge No. W-24-010) over Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) railroad in the Town of Westborough, MA. Work also includes approach roadway work to the limits shown on the Plans including, profile adjustments, construction of shared use path, sidewalk reconstruction, and utility relocation. The roadway over the bridge is currently closed to vehicular traffic. The proposed bridge will carry a Shared Use Path for bicyclists and pedestrians only. The work includes the complete replacement of the existing bridge superstructure with a singlespan prefabricated steel truss superstructure with a 7" exposed concrete deck. The substructure work will consist of the rehabilitation and reuse of the two (2) reinforced concrete abutments. The existing steel pier bent will be removed with a portion of its concrete foundation. Demolition of the existing bridge and construction of the proposed bridge will require the complete closure of Fisher Street at the bridge location and the adjacent approaches approximately 650' north of the bridge and 240' south of the bridge. All work under this Contract shall be done in conformance with the 2021 Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges, the Supplemental Specifications contained in this book, the 2017 Construction Standard Details, the Traffic Management Plans and Detail Drawings, MassDOT Work Zone Safety Temporary Traffic Control, the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2015 Overhead Signal Structure and Foundation Standard Drawings, the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; The American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions.
