Site work, new construction and addition to a mixed-use development in Pickering, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 50,000-square-foot, two-story above grade clubhouse / community center; 45,000-square-foot, two-story above grade, two-story below grade, 435-space library; 40,000-square-foot, two-story above grade, one-story below grade, 120-space theater / auditorium; for the addition of a 38,000-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility; two-story above grade, two-story below grade, 300-space parking garage; and four-story below grade, 400-space parking garage.
The Pickering City Centre Project consists of the following: **Phase 1 - Park - now covered under a separate report. Phase 2 - Relocate the Bell vault, move Esplanade South, construct the integrated 45,000 sq ft Library and SYC, sell air rights for residential development, construct below grade parking for both (Design in 2027, construction 2028) Net Project Cost $116.3 million). Phase 3 - Update the City Hall façade, renovate the current Library site for administrative expansion (2029, Net Project Cost $16 million). Phase 4 - Construct the PAC (Pickering Arts Centre), update the CHRDC (Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex) façade, construct below grade parking, and construct new CHDRC parking (2030-2031, Net Project Cost $115.5 million). TIMELINE: Scope of work & timelines have changed. KPMG to conduct a detailed analysis of the preferred option. This scope of work will include the design of facility floorplates to fully consider program requirements; stakeholder and financial analysis, and provide recommendation on preferred partnership and governance structures. An RFP for engineering design for Phase 1 - Park has been issued under a separate report. Phase 2 has been deferred to 2028 upon the completion of the Seaton Recreation Complex & Library. Updates may be available spring 2025.
