The Quabbin Regional School District, hereafter referred to as the Awarding Authority, operating under Massachusetts General Law (MGL), Chapter 149 and in accordance with procedures set forth in MGL Chapter 30, 39M , is requesting bids from a Massachusetts licensed elevator contractor to replace the obsolete OEM controller with a new standard microprocessor based controller and color position selector; replace button fixtures as required by ADA and recently changed in building code for Elevator Fire Fighters Service operation. Furnish labor and materials to provide a microprocessor-based, 1 car Simplex Dispatch system designed to replace the existing solid state, slide card controller and switch selectors. The equipment shall be nonproprietary, readily available, and easily serviceable by any qualified elevator company. Microprocessor based control system shall be provided to perform all of the functions of safe elevator control. This shall include all of the hardware required to connect, transfer and interrupt power and protect the motor from overloading. The system shall also perform car and group operational control. The elevator motor, when not in operation, shall be started automatically by the registration of a car or landing call and shall continue to run until the last registered call has been answered and the car is parked in its appropriate landing. Devices shall be supplied to protect the motor and solid-state components against overloads and phase failure. Thermal overload protection is provided for the motor. Normal thermal stopping devices shall be provided to slow down and stop the car automatically at the terminal landings and to automatically cut off the power and apply the brake, should the car travel beyond the terminal landings. A hoistway position device shall provide the position reference, door zone, and leveling information.
