The purpose of this announcement is to determine the availability and capability of qualified sources for the repairing and resurfacing Sections 1L and 1M of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Roanoke, Bedford, and Botecourt Counties in Virginia. The proposed design/build project will repair and resurfacing the Blue Ridge Parkway mainline, parking areas and overlooks from Milepost (MP) 97 to MP 121. The project will include asphalt concrete pavement patches, mill and overlay, asphalt concrete pavement reconstruction, drainage improvements, bridge maintenance repairs, asphalt sidewalk reconstruction, minor stone curb replacement and resetting, ditch reconditioning, safety improvements to guardwall and guardrails, regulatory signing, pavement markings and other miscellaneous work. The project design and construction will also include the preparation of any required design documents for design waivers and/or exceptions, and obtain required permits for construction of the project. The work will be split into bid schedules as follows: The project will be split into multiple work schedules/contract options. The design and construction cost for the base contract plus all options is estimated to be between $55,000,000 to $65,000,000. The Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division (EFLHD), of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in cooperation with the National Park Service (NPS) is conducting a “two phased” Design-Build (D-B) selection process. Solicitation documents for Phase One, Request for Qualifications (RFQ), should be issued on or about August 18, 2022. Statements of Qualifications are due on September 20, 2022 at the EFLHD office in Ashburn, Virginia.
