Renovation of a library in Kearney, Nebraska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 90,000-square-foot, three-story above grade library.
*A construction manager has been awarded. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2023. The University of Nebraska intends to procure a qualified contractor to provide pre-construction services and construction services as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) for the UNK Calvin T. Ryan Library Renovation-13627. The project will replace aging systems and restore the almost 60-year-old facility. The renovation will update the lighting, flooring, ceilings, paint, furniture, restrooms, IT infrastructure and HVAC systems, extending the building's useful life and increasing energy efficiency. During design, the collections and best storage options will be carefully considered. Spaces will also be determined for Academic Success and Academic Advising to relocate from MSAB. The purpose of the project is to replace aged items and provide overall renewal to the facility. The larger vision of the project will also consider development of a Library facility that is engaging, inspiring, and draws people into its spaces. A Library that tells UNK students they will have access to the resources and support they need to be successful.
