Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Bradford, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a 8,100-square-foot, one-story above grade clubhouse / community center; and for site work for a development.

The Scanlon Creek Nature Centre project will be a new build that will serve as a community hub to engage people of all ages and abilities from the Lake Simcoe watershed and beyond in learning about, and connecting to nature. The main objective is to provide a place for people to gather as they participate in programs and services that seek to enhance their knowledge, awareness and understanding of the health of the environment while ultimately inspiring them to take action for climate change. Based on the conceptual design completed in 2017 the Nature Centre is proposed to be an approximately 750 square metre, multi-use facility comprised of learning and gathering spaces. Flexible rooms are being intentionally designed to cater to a wide range of uses from classes of 30 students, training workshops of 50 adults to large-scale community events accommodating 250 people. The building will replace the existing Nature Centre (260 sq. metre) which has reached the end of its lifecycle, is not fully accessible, and is not able to meet the needs of our growing and changing communities. TIMELINE: Prime design consulting services were awarded late 2021. Detailed design is underway. The owner anticipates tender and construction schedules will be finalized late 2024. A separate RFP for Owner's representatives/Project Management Services was issued in 2021, but an award was not made. Federal Funding approval of $4.1 million was announced June 20, 2022. The funding for this project is being made through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GIBC) program. * Construction is expected to cost approximately $6.5 to $8 million for the entire project.
