Project Length - Approximately 4.4 miles KY-15 is a primary arterial route in southeast Kentucky that connects the area to the Mountain Parkway, Hal Rogers Parkway, and US-119. The road is characterized by deficient roadway geometrics, inadequate clear zone, the presence of slower moving heavy trucks, restricted passing opportunities, and no access control. Over 9.5 miles of KY-15 has been reconstructed or is currently under construction in Breathitt and Perry Counties. This section of KY-15 was previously studied and a preferred alternate selected, however, the project has set stagnate for over a decade. The purpose of this project is to further develop the preferred KY-15 alternate, identify cost efficiencies while examining the alignment, and refining the alignment for phase II progression.
